Rope Light in the Bathroom

3-6-ropelight.jpg

We put up this rope light in our bathroom right before the holiday season this year, in an attempt to add a little magic to the winter. Several months later and heading into spring we still love it, and it doesn't feel "holiday" to us at all. The best part? It gives off some of the most flattering (if slightly dim) light we've ever experienced in a bathroom.

We used two ropes (an 18' and a 24') for this design, attaching them to the wall with the included clips (and some drywall anchors). For ease of use we used an adapter to plug them into the light socket, so they work with the wall switch.

Rope light is easy to find around the holidays in any store that carries Christmas lights, but it's also available from numerous online sources, including Amazon, which has 24' for $17.78.

I love it! It looks very Parisian-chic with the color of your walls and the window covering.

I have twinkle lights around the ceiling line of my bedroom for the same reason - I used to put them up in my LR at Christmas and just loved the quality of the ambient light. And if you put up enough to outline a good-sized room, it's actually a considerable amount of illumination, too.

I love this! what a great idea! it would so beat the unflattering and buzzy flourescents we have now.

I've scrolled past this post three times, and I've liked the look more and more each time. I have two strands of rope lights that I got on sale from Target, but I don't like them where they are. Maybe I'll try something like this. How did you attach them to the wall? Did you use the included hardware?

I love the idea, but when they're off, it looks like aquarium hose. Has anyone discovered a unique way to hide the look of the plastic?

OneWallKitchen - yes, they're attached with the included hardware (plastic clips that screw into the wall.)

wingpea - honestly, we don't notice them when they're off very much, but that may be because our walls are a relatively strong blue color. I can see them showing up more on a white wall.
