Satellite

7-28-satellite.jpg7-28-satellite logo.jpgWould you believe us if we told you this light was genuine vintage, scored at a neighbor’s garage sale? No? Well, you might be right, but at least this one doesn’t run the risk of burning the house down with old wiring. Find out where we spotted it (and lots of other high-quality atomic age reproductions) after the jump…

In the last few years, one of our favorite Portland-based retailers – Rejuvenation – has been slowly mixing more mid-century options in with their classic Victorian, Arts & Crafts and Colonial hardware and lighting. But with the launch of Satellite, they’ve made it simple to find perforated cone lights, porcelain fixtures and enameled knobs all in one easy-to-navigate location.

Whether you’re partial to deco or mid-century, industrial or atomic, you’ll find a solid selection of clean-lined pieces that will work well in any modern home. We particularly love the boxy door chime, louvered Skyport, and home office-friendly Bruno, and can see most of these items happily co-existing in our 1945 Cape Cod. Having trouble imagining them in yours? The Room Settings section is well-populated with ample opportunities for inspiration!

I'm a little disappointed. They don't seem to have added that many more items than Rejuvenation had - I'd love to see a simple mid-century ceiling fixture - something like the Arthur but without the extra rings etc. Anyone have any ideas?

I still say the best place to find mid-century modern is your local thrift store.

The white pottery looks great against the grey walls.

Wow, what a nice surprise to find this Satellite posting. I work for Rejuvenation and have been involved in Satellite since we decided to launch the site. Our offering will be expanding quite a bit over the next year and we'd love to hear about any products you'd like to see us carry or reproduce. We've got some cabinet hardware in the cue and some ideas for door hardware and some other pendants, but if you see something in a thrift store or old catalog or magazine etc., it would be great to hear from you.
