apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Serena Drum Chandelier from Oly Studio

9-10-serenadrum.jpgThere is little that can pull together a room like a stunning light fixture. This capiz and brass drum shade certainly fits that bill - we can see something like this working in a wide variety of spaces, from a more traditional foyer to a modern bedroom.

I have a capiz drum shade over my dining table and I absolutely love it. I had a diffuser made for it, converted it to a stem-plus-chain for my vaulted ceiling, and added a dimmer switch for romantic dining. The one in this post a little too busy for my decor (although I agree that its gorgeous!!) however the capiz-shell-cum-drum-shade concept is the same.

Oly is a bit on the pricey side, but WOW - you get a lot of look for the investment! Their pieces make such a statement and will look fabulous throughout the years. I don't like the "price upon request" much either, although it seems to be very common with higher end designer pieces.

If you go to Jayson Home & Garden, they have a price. And yes, it's very disappointing. If it was 1/2 the price I'd get it in a heartbeat.
