apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

this is exactly the kind of lamp i want for my bedroom. i think i saw one like this in ikea (damn) the last time i was there but they don't have it anywhere online. pottery barn also has something similar but more expensive.

Not designer or anything, but Wal-mart carries an identical model for $24.95. I just bought one for my study.

I saw something similar at KMart the other day for around $40. Don't know if it's tear-shaped, but it had clean lines and a clear glass design. Couldn't find it on their website, though.

On a slightly different tip...I've seen demijohns at TJ Maxx and Ross for under twenty bucks.

I have something similar from Target. It was bought last year on sale for about $25

I looked around some more, and found some less expensive alternatives. I'm sorry, I didn't notice the $150 limit. And I don't know what demijohns are.

I really liked the idea of making my own lamp:

-cost can be cheaper
-unique individual touch
-knowing that it came from the love of my labor,

however:
-so time-consuming (running around town finding a lamp kit that would work, for a base that would be unique like demijohn...and i had no luck at Ross, and we have no TJ MAXX in our town, and having to find a lampshade (i'm looking for drum shades) that would fit the look & dimensions i'm looking for).

TRUE BLUE --- i like the Phantom lamp (at the AT link you posted) but $99...OUCH!

I'm debating, costs of purchasing 2 Phantom lamp (and cost of shipping....is there anyone who knows how to get around this?) and my time & cost in making 2 of my own.
