In a time of high gas prices, escaping right in your own home seems both economical and rather comforting. This delicate chandelier lets you travel back in time while enjoying the scenery every time you flip a switch.

Fashioned out of 85 linked slides, the European images come from a pair of 1960’s travelers who – lucky for us – documented their voyages. From sea to shining sea, we’re mesmerized by the people, places and landscapes, all from a time long before Flickr.
This item is one-of-a-kind, but seems possible to do with your own slide collection…let us know if you give it a try!

My photograpy teacher gave me and another student the task of cleaning out an old storage closet and we found a shoebox-sized box of slides that I took home and made window treatments out of. Unfortunately I've moved out of my parents house since then and when my little sister took over the room she took them down, so I don't have any pictures.

These are cool, but I wouldn't call it one of a kind as I've seen that done before - honeysuckle creations on etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5128501) has a lot more for significantly less than $180.

Antonine, I didn't mean that it's a one of a kind project -- as a previous poster mentioned, there's a strong resemlance to a lamp originally designed by Philippe Vidalenc.
To clarify, the chandelier above is the only one created and sold in Phoebe1's store and the slides themselves won't be found elsewhere, so "one of a kind" definitely seemed appropriate.

Those slides will turn pink, pinker, and then fade completely within a couple of years of use, as anyone who's worked in a slide library can attest to. Just, FYI.

That's not true Jezebella. I have my first slide lamp shade that I made over 7 years ago, and it's still fresh and looks great!
