The Plamp Plant Lamp from Twan Verdonck

When we think about green these days, plants aren't usually the first thing to come to mind. So we were blown away when we first saw this "green light" from Twan Verdonck. A stunning way to bring plants inside, the fixture forces the use of CFL bulbs (they stay cool enough to not burn the plant) making them that "other" green too. The best part? The designer provides detailed DIY instructions on to make your own plamp.

We're feeling pretty inspired right now, and may just be checking out the wire section the next time we're at the hardware store.

Read more about the plamp or download the instructions on how to make your own on Twan Verdonck's website.

Wow! This is genuinely impressive! And the instructions are pretty simple, straightforward and easy to follow. And considering most of the items used are easily found in our homes, I might actually try this one. I'm a little wary about electricity and water so close together (hence the multiple warnings), but I'll hold onto the instructions.

This is definitely one to pass on to my readers at http://www.greenyourdecor.com

(in SF right now: at Lynn's antiques and beautiful things, on church st near 27th.
it's a piece of bamboo in a grey, round stone base.
the umbrella shaped shade is extraordinary, some kind of plant material, off-white.
vintage (can't remember the name of the company, "Ka----" something).i'd buy it in a heartbeat if i weren't broke.
