apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Art @ Home: Meredith's Home Art Tour

2007_01_19_meredith.jpg

Meredith is one of the artists donating works to the AT Art Auction. (Her piece will be up for auction shortly.) In the meantime, she's shared her art in another way: with an art tour of her current collection, or at least part of it.

Although she wrote in that she's looking for tips on displaying art, we're charmed by the spontaneous, almost haphazard way art is currently on parade throughout her funky house. It's everywhere: framed and not, hung and propped, leaning against walls, on furniture, on lintels...a feast for a roving, curious eye.

She says:

"It's kind of tricky to take photographs in our house, we live in an old victorian that is a rental, and our landlady has an interesting color sense.

It's definitely not a "rental white" place. Our living room is red and green with kind of a tan ceiling and that leads into a strange kitchen that is bright yellow, bright orange and bright purple with a pale green ceiling! Most of our art is from local Sonoma county and San Francisco artists, and some of it is from thrift shops."

Thanks Meredith!

also, i'm glad i'm not the only one with art piled up all over the place. my landlords must hate the ever-growing collection of holes all over my walls as i struggle to keep art-in-progress away from the cat.

somehow, meredith makes this all look calm and soothing. aaaaah.

thank you! those are such nice things to say, and i really appreciate it. i have to admit that i was a bit nervous about having my messy house up on apartment therapy, but i couldn't pass up the chance to share our art collection.

i LOVE your art and your house (some of the colors aren't so bad...) i especially like everything on the blue walls, the reading nook, and the teensy pieces over the window.

do any of these artists have websites?

Meredith's work is the stuff on the blue walls. Her website is meredithmade.com
other artists in the slideshow are
Laurel Roth: www.loloro.com
The teensy pieces over the window are Will Smith and the ceramic piece is Todd Barricklow, you can find both their work at killingtimestudios.com

I'll look into the other pieces and see what I can find. Also, we are still documenting, so more photos will be appearing this week!
