Bedroom Peeks: Emily's Studio / Bedroom and walk-in closet

2007_02_15_emily.jpg
Welcome to Emily, who moved to SanFran (Pacific Heights) just a year and a half ago. There's no way to show just her bedroom since she lives in a studio. So this is really Emily's house tour. . . and it includes her walk-in closet.

Emily says: "It's one of those old school studios with the walk-in closet and separate kitchen. I moved to San Francisco right after college so many many of the items in my apartment are from my grandparents house (nearby)."

Emily's settling in nicely, with a mixture of inherited furniture and some new things that express her evolving tastes.

Thanks Emily!

I'd like to see a floor plan. I live in a studio with a bay window too.

I love the pillow with flowers. Where did you buy it?

P.S.
I second Lady J's request to see a floor plan. That would be great to see.

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone!
The pillow was purchased at Wingard (http://www.kennethwingard.com/) and I believe it's one of his vintage fabric pillows, but they don't appear to be carrying this one any more.

I'm not sure how to get you a floor plan, as I do not have access to a scanner. Any suggestions?

wow emily... your place is fabulous! you must be pretty artistic and most definitely quite fashionable -- i saw all those heels in your closet! totally agree with miki, the wall stencils are great! how long did that take you?

Lisa - did you really just call it SanFran?

Emily - your place is great. I especially love how the TP pillow plays off the wall stencil. And I love the cross stitch piece hung down low! Brilliant.

Powerpoint (lines and drawing objects, then save as a jpeg) or the floor plan tool at bhg.com

But don't knock yourself out.

Hi again,
Here's my floor plan...best I could do...I have no measurements for ya, sorry. I've also included some litte pics of the kitchen, hall and bathroom.

Tina, I think the stenciling took 3 or 4 days. I definitely stayed up until 4 am a few nights working on it after work.

great floor plan... and thanks for the extra pix you included, too. the "for like ever" art is wonderful. and tell me, are those the horizontal-stacking bookshelves in your hallway? i need to get me some of those.

Thanks Miki!
They're not bookshelves, just books stacked from largest to smallest and by color.
I kept running out of space on bookshelves and decided this was the best way to accommodate my ever-growing collection.

Elizabeth, Yes, I did! Please forgive me. Sometimes I just type too fast for my own good. : )

Emily-

You've always been the artistic and fashionable one in the family - I'm not surprised by how adorable your place is. Really, I'm very impressed. :) Maybe one of these days I'll make it out there to see it in person! Only if you promise to come to farm country...Indiana! Actually there are some amazing antique shops up in Harbor Country (New Buffalo, Mich. area) that you would LOVE! I found some great stuff for the house up there.

Love Ya!

You could draw your floor plan big and photograph it.

Thanks for the floor plan! It helps to understand why you've positioned your furniture that way. My place is also a long bread box. Hallway to one side and all things going off the opposite side.
