Just spotted on the Dwell website: A Portland renovation.
The building -- which, in years past, "housed a messenger service, a boardinghouse, a storage space, a gay bathhouse, and more recently, a store selling fine, handmade men’s lingerie" -- is now not only an office (for Skylab Design), a storefront for a furniture shop (Intelligent Design), and a salon (D Studio), it's also a home.

Non-stop texture. That's all I can say. It forcibly reminds us that smooth, too, is a texture, where the brick is half-covered, half-exposed.
The green flooring, however... Is that astro-turf? I would assume it's not, but that's a bad first impression to make...

This is just down the street from me. I personally love the green turf floor tiles. It is a whimsical touch that I think is nice in a typically grey Pacific Northwest day. Check out www.dougfirlounge.com for another cool disign of his.

I visited this home during the recent Street of Eames tour.
The carpet appeared to be Flor tiles. As with the Flor samples I've ordered, I found the carpet to be too rough for my preference, although I liked the color.
The home had some great storage solutions and beautiful cabinets. However, you could see into the bathroom from the stairway, and there was a doorway to a 20 ft drop, which seemed to me a bit dangerous in a house with a young child.
I definitely found some inspiring ideas there, though.
