Look!: A $1,500 Doorstop

2007_05_14_doorstop.jpgCool or cahones?

The 2003 Aalto Doorstop is a 12 pound hunk of concrete with a heavyweight art and design pedigree.

One of Tobias Wong's “readydesigneds,” the Aalto Doorstop was made in a limited edition of 12. Each piece is a smooth cast concrete form that required the ritual smashing of a vintage Alvar Aalto glass Savoy vase in order to mark its arrival into the world. In many ways the opposite of Alto's design, Wong's stump still manages to be quite an attractive little joke.

What do you say, prank or design world happening? Would you want one if you had $1500 to spare?
