Look! A Coat Rack from a Branch

Very often we find ourselves focusing on the wrong thing when we look at ads and marketing material. For instance, this image from the website of Danish wallpaper and wall sticker purveryor Ferm is actually a promotion for their "Fly on the Wall" bug stickers. We find ourselves staring at the coat rack instead, which is California beautiful in an elegant, earthy Nakashima way. We like the way it casually notches upward after doing horizontal coatrack duty.

Seems easy enough to DIY, once you find the perfect specimen. Use curtain rod mounting brackets and S-hooks . . . and when you're done, send us a picture!

love it. the fixtures holding it in place offer a really nice industrial contrast, too. i wonder how strong the branch needs to be? it might be really beautiful in a larger scale, too... thanks for the idea!

I actually have a branch that's very similar! It was part of a much longer limb from a dead tree that was pulled down in my apartment complex a couple of years ago. That particular branch just seemed to 'speak' to me (okay, okay, yeah - I'm from California! ;->) so I drug it home. I had part of it cut off so I could use the longer part in my garden, and I've been saving that smaller piece for who knew what. Maybe now I know! These apartments don't have coat closets, either so...

this is a great idea. my mom always rescues fallen branches. her current obsession is using them as curtain rods and they look awesome, but it cant be a pain getting the curtains to hang right

I love this idea! I have seen images of this DIY concept here and there in design magazines, and it just looks eco-fabulous... oh to be créatif avec la nature!
