Look! Cats Creep

2006_09_21_cats.jpg
We interrupt Kids' Design Month to bring you a holdover from last month's theme: living with pets.

There's an awful lot of cutesy pet-related home decor out there, most of which we'd stay away from with a ten-foot pole, but these nifty wooden cat silhouettes, crouching atop the door frames in a friend's Cow Hollow pad, hit just the right note of subtle, and bring a smile to our faces whenever we visit.

I;m embarrased to admit that I adore tose cat silhouettes as well. My uncle used to make them, and everyone in my family had some version of their animals draped over the frames of doors - so that's a lot of laoded nostalgia talking. My adoration of his work doesn't extend to wooden tulip stakes for the garden, or a cutout of a farmer pushing a plow however. I did leave the midwest for a reason!

I'll admit, I'm curious whether our black cat with anger management issues would attack one or pose with it.

wende,

i was just thinking the same thing. i have a big black cat (actually she looks exactly like the silhouettes) who would be absolutely pissed if another cat was on one of her perches.
