In anticipation of the Fall Color Contest we bring you a gallery of inspiration in the form of images from the
Chicanos exhibit, currently at the deYoung.
Our favorite part of the exhibit was the print and poster gallery, which includes works from SF's own
Mission Cultural Center.
The exhibit design is also noteworthy. The walls are painted in warm, saturated hues that set off the explosive colors of the largescale paintings in Cheech Marin's amazing collection.
Like the paintings and the prints, the multimedia section pulses (but at times is pedantic enough that it feels like it might be aimed at schoolkids).
This exhibit is alive.
