Look! Corrugated Steel Made Awesome for Outdoors

Not that we've had a bad word to say about corrugated steel in the past, but this use of it is more impressive than we ever expected of the material. Who knew? (Check out the before photo after the jump).

Before

Apparently Jennifer Ramos from MadeByGirl did, or rather was inspired by an image in Sunset. Part of Coco + Kelley's Style (E)scapes series on outdoor spaces, the blue-painted corrugated steel completely turns around the style of this porch, from straight traditional to eclectic and modern.

It does look surprisingly good. Is it because of the color? Who woulda thunk? I would paint the white wicker chairs the same color.

It does look good, but I actually liked the light and airy feeling of the previous fencing/arrangement.

Doesn't steel retain a lot of heat?

If someone had told me about this, I probably wouldn't like it but it looks good in that photo. It might be the colour it's painted.

Yikes - definitely more into the before, and REALLY not into the corrugated iron.

Isn't corrugated steel usually galvanized, and does galvanized metal stay painted? (Maybe there is a special priner required??) (I always believed paint peeled from the metal, which is why you hardly ever see it painted...)

I too prefer the white fencing to the metal surround. Maybe it helps with privacy or sind control or some other pragmatic issue, but aesthetically, I'd stick with the fencing.

It is always a spirit lifter to do something new and refreshing. Love the color.

This sort of look is pretty common in Australia.
