Look!: Glow-in-the-Dark Bathroom Counters

2007_03_16_glowcounter.jpg
Some friends of ours redid their bathroom last year and were delighted when their contractor proposed a glow-in-the-dark material for the vanity countertop he'd built for them.

They'd neither seen nor heard of the substance, but they were game, and wound up being very pleased with it. They say they can use the bathroom in the middle of the night without having to turn on the lights and that the glow is not bright enough to actually rouse you (handy during a recent pregnancy). During the day it has a pleasant whitish-green color that works beautifully with their color and texture palette of neutrals and naturals.

Turns out their contractor was none other than Thomas Wold, himself, of Grand Object and Plexo fame.

you can buy plastic laminates that glow in the dark (abet laminati lumiphos). it looks like it has been used over a plywood backer.

it would be cool to see a photo in the dark!
