The dining room is, hands down, our favorite room in the house. We can pore for hours over photos of the formal eating space, and tables, chairs, serving ware, centerpieces, et cetera. That's why we were pleasantly surprised to see something new in the usual setup.

No, it is not beautiful or unique, I think hanging plants have been around for a while. It looks kind of out of place...like there should be an actual chandelier hanging there but for some reason there was a plant hanging around and someone put it up.

It's not a light, it's just a plant. No matter where you hang it, it's a hanging plant unless you turn it into a lamp, whereby it can become a chandelier.

i like the idea, however i don't think the plant in the photo is dramatic enough. perhaps when it grows out it will be long enough to read as a chandelier-like object. i'm also thrown off by the plant on the table - a really great abstract table lamp would be a nice twist, a play on the lamp and plant swapping spaces.

Agreed, K T G, but I guess I can empathize with having to fill a quota of domestic epiphanies for AT, day in and day out. Out of desperation, you sometimes construct your epiphany like a delicate house of cards...
Aside from the silly "hook" of this AT post, I have to say that I really enjoyed this sneak peek on D*S this morning. It's a beautiful home.

From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

...I guess it's better than posting "LOOK! Hanging Plant over Dining Table!"

Of course, AT could just repost Design Sponge's entries.
And while I like a nice fern bar, this plant is too small, hung too high, and when you water it, does it drip on your head?

But, it's more enjoyable to come here and check out recycled posts that read like something from The Onion!

Man, why is everyone so agitated today?

Completely agree. Some of the worst posts on AT are the ones that begin with "Look!"
Sorry, AT--maybe you should ask some of us to come up with ideas for posts so we can really understand how hard it is.

madsarah! That's a great idea! Or maybe a forum, where we can just talk among ourselves and ignore the official AT hamsters.

"Look! A great idea spawned from a dull post about a hanging plant."
Good thinking, Palmetto. :)

Next will be a round-up of alternatives to hanging a lamp over the table, calling up this post among other things which for convenience and repetition we'll call "chandeliers" founded by a loose referential shape or location. Great idea, the round-up. Rework the same unpopular idea into several marginally popular or predictable repeats of recent features.
Since this is now the 4th thing that's not actually a lamp of any sort to be called a "chandelier" on AT in very recent memory, I'd be surprised if it didn't turn out to be another term they're attempting to brand cutely, in spite of overwhelming cultural inferences otherwise (i.e. "landing strip"). Nobody wants to see neatly waxed and trimmed pubic hair as soon as they walk in the door, much less put our keys and our cell phone on it, and we like our chandeliers to actually cast light. Please. And when I say we, I don't mean just me.
