Look! House Numbers in the Window

We love the variety and sometimes quirkiness of the house numbers on the buildings in our neighborhood. Many are hand-painted onto decorative tiles or cast into bronze plates. Others are printed on a lamp or transom over the front door. But it's these modest numbers perched on a window sill that really won us over...

This seems like a temporary solution, as there's nothing anchoring the numbers to the house. However, these look like they've been there a while. Makes us wonder - was it planned? Forgotten. Last thing on a long to-do list?

People also need to remember that IF they have to call for any emergency service, these numbers need to be easy to find and visible from the road. These are really cute though.

This is cute as long as there are larger numbers closer to the street, like on a mailbox. There is nothing worse than being in an emergency and the rescuers can't find you.

This is one situation where aesthetics run a distant second to practicality. If you've ever had a desperate emergency it puts things into perspective very quickly.

Cute. They look like they're cuddling.

This would only work if you had much larger numbers somewhere else that could be read easily. So essentially you would now have two sets of numbers on your house, which is a bit ridiculous.

Three letters - GPS
If your town doesn't have them in their emergency vehicles I would consider moving.

chaswalkerdotcom - We have a gps navigation system and I can tell you personally, it doesn't flag the exact house - just the road and it might give you an idea which half.

Besides ambulance, any time you have a delivery made to your home, the delivery man has to be able to see your address.

I know in some places it is against the law to not have your house numbers where they can be read easily from the street - Wake County, NC is one.
