Look!: Light Bulb Bud Vase

5-29-08-bulb-bud.jpg
This ingenious make-do bud vase was spotted on our recent trip to Mexico, sitting on the counter of the local beachside bar.

The fact that it's a light bulb aside, we love the idea of using coarse sand at the bottom of a clear bud vase for both visual effect and stabilizing thin stems. The little tin foil cup at the bottom appears to be keeping the round base upright.

Cool! I like! I'd want something made of thicker glass though; vases never last long in a house with cats.

they make small jars like this and sell them at our local craft store, they even have the metal part screw off and it has a flattened bottom, thicker glass too.

they are available at online places too

These are so neat! I recently went to a craft show and met a guy that makes and sells these on etsy.com. Here is his store:

He also has a tutorial link so you can make them yourself...looks pretty easy to do!
