Look! Lucite Blocks With Flowers and Insects

10-17-bugwall.jpg One of the best donor walls we've ever seen, this installation of flowers and bugs suspending in blocks of lucite is at the the new California Academy of Sciences building. While we've never seen a donor wall in a residential setting, we think it's an idea that could be tweaked to be stunning in a home.

10-17-bugwall2.jpg The repetition and the colors, not to mention the beauty of the natural objects displayed as a group while being simply mounted individually - how wonderful would a similar installation be on the wall of someone's home?

I'd title this installation "Death in a Lucite Block" ...

Poor bugs...

O great. Now someone's going to turn this into a tacky way to ask for money at a wedding. I can just see it in the invitation: "Contribute $200 towards the down payment of our future house and your name goes on a little block of Lucite in our living room."

KrapArtist - they're not actually real bugs. You can better see the tiles in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/svpc_em/2919328790/

If folks want to make donations, I'd be more than happy to put their names up on a donor wall in my home.
