Look!: Mural in Capitol Hill
Seattle

9-19-08-mural.jpg

The icy blues and purples at the bottom of this mural alone send us, but the burst of pinks and greens above make this color combination something really special. There's something fresh and almost magical about the juxtaposition.

The grey of the building, the rusty red window frames and faint white type provide a canvas that takes it over the top. If we could shrink it down, we'd love this as a piece of hanging artwork against a brick wall.

This is a beautiful example of how art can make such a difference. If city officials were smart, they would commission more artists instead of spending so much money washing off graffiti.

Haven't seen this in person yet, so maybe a trip to the Hill is in order this weekend!

I think this is beautiful. You see stuff like this all over Europe, and it adds life and character to otherwise dull buildings and neighborhoods. I can't wait to see more things like this.
