Last week we decided to head over and up to the Haight to grab a Sangria or two at Cha Cha Cha. While we were sitting there we looked over at the exposed brick wall and noticed something different (for restaurant decor). It's musical instruments (and sheet music!)! We really like this idea, as it's not always about textured wallpaper or interesting paintings. Definitely a low cost way to liven up a wall.

It's cute but a little too TGIFriday's/Applebees for me.

As an artist I always wonder: what is it with this term "wall art"? As opposed to floor or ceiling art? Or does wall art mean -- not really art, but rather a bunch of stuff on the wall?

Good point!
I think this is kind of a mess, but it is restaurant decor. I think rather than attributing this style to chain/theme restaurants, I would say it's because they are imitations of the type of restaurants that would decorate this way (among other typical similarities in names, menus, uniforms, etc.). I wouldn't do this in the home unless you're decorating your music studio or possibly a rec room. It is similar to liking sports and hanging sport junk all over. Where it's appropriate, it doesn't look too dumb - but it's not hard to think of it either.

Mmmm love the Sangria and Tapas there. The weirdest thing I've seen for decor there is that huge cupid looking thing hanging from the ceiling near the bar.

Looks somewhat like the night club used in the movie BELL BOOK AND CANDLE during the 50's. The Zodiac club if my memory holds true. One of the best movies of comedy ever done---also a good Christmas movie.

When I was in high school, a friend's mother had a violin hanging next to the framed sheet music for "Stardust," her favorite song. It was quite nice.
