We were so excited to open our inbox today and find this little peek into a Nob Hill penthouse from SF-based interior designer Steven Miller. See more photos of the project after the jump...

040609 steven miller 3.jpg Steven's objective for this small one-bedroom condo was to edit down the owners' collection of objects and furniture and add a few key pieces and decorative embellishments in order to create a more cohesive space. The result is this little jewel box of a home that showcases the couple's treasures while maintaining a composed, chic look.

I like it. I assume the designer used what the owner already had so it really is a space for that individual. I prefer a few nice pieces rather than too much. Honestly, I find it more serene, if that is decorator show home. Fine. I wouldn't be able to relax in a space with much more going on.

Whether you like it or not, try and remember that very few clients allow architects or designers to fully implement their vision - the result is we usually have little idea how much is the professional opinion or the clients insistence.

Take what you can - and hope the client is happy with their space; after all, they live there.

I would be interested in a source for the chandelier shade, if it didn't come with the chandelier. I'm looking for a sheer fabric shade, but they're hard to find. I found instructions for making one, but the sewing was way above my skill level.

I like the wooden chairs, but I think the red chairs look uncomfortable and blocky, and they create too many angles. (In a small space, I think having chairs that show floor underneath helps lessen the feeling of confinement, unlike this choice.)

It's ok. I don't think I'd go for "jewel box".
