Sometimes it takes a big chair, a bold gesture, to make a small space work for you.
This slate-blue velvet chair and ottoman trick out the bay window of a friend's Cow Hollow music room.
The other major piece of furniture in this room is a beautiful baby grand piano. Our friend uses this room for reading, relaxing, listening to and making music. But when he's at the piano, the Big Chair is empty.
Although our friend is shy, this empty-chair phenomenon leads to requests for impromptu recitals. We were able to convince him to play for us when we visited the other day, and it was lovely. Afterwards, I took a brief, heavenly nap in the Big Chair (it's bigger than it looks), as illustrated after the jump.

Hello :) If you happen to see this...can you ask your friend where he got this chair from or if there are any maker's marks on it? It's damn hard to find a luxurious oversized velvet chair and I"m losing my mind here! Thank you!
