Last week we showed you a paper flower a friend made for us. And although you appreciated it, most of the comments called for information on our corrugated cardboard nightstand.

It's just cardboard! Pretty neat, huh? While ours was made by a local designer (it's actually just one piece of a much larger installation), we don't see why you couldn't make one yourself. It's super sturdy, it looks really cool, and we think it's clever (and we make believe that it helps muffle the sound of the cars that go by our bedroom window). Our only problem? It's minor, but it can get dusty if you neglect cleaning it.
don't all night stands get dusty if you neglect cleaning them, though?
either way, i love both the stand and the flower. and the bedspread, pillow, paint color, books, etc, etc. . .

reminds me very much of architecture school...cardboard and elmer's white glue.

I'm thinking You could gesso it white, then sand and paint it with a water based enamel to make it a little more easier to clean/dust.

Or you could wrap it in contact paper. And then throw it away.
It's cool because it's cardboard. Frank Gehry at your bedside.

Or you could stick it in a glass box. And then keep it in the fridge.

I was thinking a glass top. would increase the surface area and block the majority of dust that would settle on it.

Glass top is a great idea :teeze. Dust problem solved!
I saw this idea as display pieces at West Elm and was immediately attracted to them. I love the sculptural carving on this one though. Although absent a vacuum table and a commercial saw, I'm not sure they would be as DIY-friendly as you might initially think.
But, you are very right. This is an immensely strong construct. Airplane wings are made very similarly. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

It looks cool but I can't imagine it would wear well. Also, obviously not for cat owners, as there are so many scratching posts made out of this.
