We just returned from a short jaunt over to Cairo, Egypt. Yes, we saw the pyramids of Giza, made friends with some camels and marveled at the beauty of the city's numerous mosques. But we especially loved seeing how the tradition of swathing camels and horses in layers of colorful textiles and patterns translated to the modern world of trucks and cars. See more below the jump...

Wow - if i'm going to be stuck in grid lock, i'd like to be behind one of these.

Talk about heart attack worthy drivers! There are no lines on the roads in Ciro and the whole time I was there... I think I saw a total of two stop lights. The drivers have little honk combinations to indicate their location to other drivers.
The colorful trucks were great though. Most of the vehicles had suspiciously spelled "brand names" and familiar-yet-odd looking logos.

I don't know how you managed to snap a photo while on the roads in Egypt-Cairo especially! I cannot even bear to look out the windows when I'm on the roads there... I just put my head down and pray we make it to our destination in one piece!
-There are lines, but the cars just drive in one big pack, it makes no sense at all and can be pretty terrifying!

I must be thinking of Ring Road and the other outlying roads, which I don't remember having lines... just those black and white dashed "curbs". I only spent one day within the city limits, the rest of the time was on the outskirts of town.
I agree with Tiffany about the terrifying part.
