Look!: Ribbon Ceiling Canopy

Got an ugly ceiling? We might have a solution: Just the other day — while in NYC for ICFF — we came across this ceiling treatment at Charles Nolan in the Meatpacking District.

In the store restroom, the colorful ceiling was a stunning counterpoint to the mostly black space. If we had higher ceilings, we would be tempted to replicate the canopy in our house — probably with only two or three colors of ribbon. We think it would be especially sweet in a nursery.

(Apologies for our poor photography skills in the bathroom photo above!)

How are the ribbons anchored?

ebrown: Good question. Unfortunately, I wasn't tall enough to figure that out for sure ... But I was thinking finishing nails or small pieces of velcro (the kind that have adhesive on one side) could do the trick? On "Trading Spaces," they always stuck things to the ceiling/walls with a glue gun even, so maybe that would work for the ribbons.

Same comment as after the Oprah show w/ Nate's NYC studio makeover where he spelled "Louis" wrong - DEALING W/ DUST? Someone on "Trading Spaces did this about 5 years ago (Hildy? Doug?). It was like Wringling Brothers on crack-awful.

P.S. The cat names were Louis and Prada. Based on the context clues, I can only assume that "LOUIE" was a mis-spelling.
