Look!: Rope Light in the Bathroom

Magical. It's the only way to describe the light given off by the rope lights we recently put up in our bathroom. While rope light is ubiquitous around the holidays, we like this look so much that we think it will last throughout the year.

We used two ropes (an 18' and a 24') for this design, attaching them to the wall with the included clips (and some drywall anchors). For ease of use we used an adapter to plug them into the light socket, so they work with the wall switch.

Rope light is easy to find this time of year. We picked ours up at Target but almost anywhere selling holiday decorations should carry it. It's also available from numerous online sources, including Amazon, which has 24' for $15.29.

Rope light really gives a lot of visual bang for the buck. When it gets marked down after Christmas it is almost free and it looks great all year. The poor man's neon.

Damova,

The ones I used are not LED, although I know there are LED rope lights available.

This is a cool idea, but I'd like to see it in a more ordered, symmetrical pattern around the mirror. Using the rope light is interesting enough a concept that you don't have to go tell another story with the random squiggles. I think it would look like a really high-end fixture/installation with your molding-framed mirror. But, it wouldn't be as good at distributing light through the whole room.

Ehh... not so much of a fan. I think it's a cool idea, but with the rest of the decor, not so much.
