Look!: Shawna's Wallpapered Stairs

5-7-shawna1.jpgWe're always intrigued by Seattleite-turned-Dubliner Shawna's observations on decorating and design in Ireland. But today's entry jumped off the page -- wow! (Check out the before pic below the jump to see the difference.)

incredible- so graphic and bold a statement in an entryway has to set an excellent tone for the entire house!

I am in love with those stairs! Wow.

If I lived there, I would feel like Alice in wonderland

Very clever! It looks great! I'd like to see something on the uppers though. The painted tops look a bit slick for socked feet.

i'd love to do something similar with my stairs; however, my stairs are wood colored and I don't want to paint them. Is there a pattern that would go with that? hrm.

WOW! Thank you all for the lovely comments about my stairs.

MoJohnson- Yes they look pretty slick, and we were sort of worried about that, but there's actually more traction on them than you'd probably expect.

Jolly- I got my wallpaper at Wallpaperfromthe70s.com, and I gaurantee you could find something to match your stairs. They're a great company.

For painted stairs to not be so slick, simply sprinkle some sand (salt shaker works wonders for this job) when the paint is wet. Le voila, traction in a second!

I've done it a bunch of times and works like a charm.
