Look! Shower and Container Garden in One

6-22-09-shower-patio.jpg

It doesn't take a huge stretch of the imagination to consider that rooms designed to get humans clean can be mutually beneficial to plants — the right plants in a steamy, well-lit bathroom do very well. So it comes as no surprise that an outdoor shower and a container garden is a match made in heaven.

With plants so close though, the kind of soap one uses in such a shower deserves a bit of consideration. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps is a great organic choice, or try any biodegradable camping soap.

Sorry to be cynical but what about your shampoo getting into the dirt? Wouldn't that be bad for them?

I'd be worried about all that wood rotting from the constant moisture. I wonder how they dealt with that here.

Well....why not? It does have a cool tropical look! It would look silly in MY shower, but works wonderfully here.

You'd have to hope the Google Earth satellite wasn't doing a pass over your neighbourhood at shower time.

I once lived in a communal house once that had something of a shower/container garden combo. Only, it wasn't on purpose. And so I discovered I'm just not that crunchy.
