Look! Small Space Bar and Desk at the Decorator Showcase

Though the multi-story mansion housing this year's San Francisco Decorator Showcase may seem like the last place to find small space solutions, you might be surprised. As some of the rooms are quite small, the designers must use a little ingenuity to create the look for which they are going without sacrificing comfort or ease of movement. Take for instance the Dweller's Lodge, seen here...

A narrow room on the lower level of the home, designer Darin Geise's Dweller's Lodge is sort of a man cave from a more refined era. Some of our favorite aspects of the room are the little bar created by setting a serving tray atop a storage trunk and the chest of drawers with a fold down desk, perfect for correspondence or perhaps resting your drink. Despite the small size of the space it didn't feel claustrophobic in the least, but rather cozy and inviting (with the distinct smell of a humidor, incidentally).

The San Francisco Decorator Showcase is open now through May 25th, with all proceeds benefiting the financial aid program at San Francisco University High School.

I love the Balloon chair by the window...
...but I can't imagine why they placed that unfinished wing chair by the entrance to the room?

That chair reminds me of an upright casket.
