Look!: The Patio at Spork

7-16-08 spork garden.jpgSpork is one of our favorite little unassuming spots in the Mission. We like that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and love that they embrace the location's past life as a KFC drive-thru. The decor now, we're happy to report, is distinctly unlike that of the Colonel. We were particularly drawn to some nice little touches on the patio...

These raised galvanized planters were on wheels and contained all sorts of goodies - including tomatoes, fruit trees, and some leafy greens.

7-16-08 spork.jpgWe also loved the lights surrounding the space and the old record player spinning Pavarotti. All simple touches, but together they create a great atmosphere.

Very pretty. Does anyone know where those lights are from?

Very timely. They just mentioned Spork along with some decor shops in the area in a NYTimes piece in today's travel section.

That planter looks like a stock tank. Which I like. Big containers are the way to go, though anything in metal would cook the plants where I'm at.

I have those very troughs in my backyard for raised beds. I love them.
