Look!: Wallpapered Table

5-6-08-wallpaper-table.jpg

Ikea Hacker posted this project from Alice, a mom who needed a solution for a Vika table that had seen some abuse in the form of repeated water spillage by her daughter. Vintage wallpaper was topped with a sheet of glass to both hide existing and prevent future damage.

Carpenters' glue was used to attach the wallpaper, and we presume that the 6mm glass is just resting on top of it. We might use removable double-sided tape to affix the wallpaper, so we could change the pattern out on a whim.

Great! I was thinking about doing the same with an Ikea corner desk.

You can also use wrapping paper, tissue or any material you love. This also works for the tops of dressers.

My sister did this awhile back, almost the same wallpaper design. Instead she used a smaller table from Ikea and completely covered the formerly pink one into a beautiful masterpiece. Now I have to do it to mine!

I love this. I think it might work for for certain countertops as well.
