Mignonne: Furniture Renovation & More

This past weekend we had a chance to check out Mignonne's new location in Berkeley. The old spot was near our house and with its great selection of home goods, gifts, and furnture it quickly became one of our favorite stores. We were sad to see it move, but with its increased inventory of renovated furniture it makes perfect sense. Johnelle Mancha, the owner of the shop, took some time to show us around.

The store is full of wonderful pieces of furniture that were given a second chance.
As Johnelle's friend described to us, "the furniture is her blank canvas". Johnelle spends many hours in the back of the store renovating amazing finds that have good bones and interesting features. Each one inspires her differently and they all have their own character. We admire how much love and care goes into every single one of her pieces. Many of them go through major repairs, painting and reupholstery. They are all named and stamped during the remodel. The end results are truly beautiful.

Johnelle also does a lot of custom orders. If you have any furniture that is somewhat outdated or/and needs some renovation you should definitely contact Mignonne. Don't throw it away. Refinishing old furniture is not only a green option for decorating your home, but it is also much more original. Their prices are very reasonable and they are fast with their turn around times. Whatever your style might be and if you are just looking for something different for your home, Mignonne doesn't disappoint.

With its focus changing towards furniture Mignonne carries less gifts and art. They still have a great collection of vintage finds, great porcelain sets, interesting art by local artists, and fragrant candles and soaps.

A shop I'd love to visit if it weren't 3000 miles away... sigh.

Wow - I love the armoire or hutch or whatever you call it - especially the blue on the interior! Beautiful!

looks great. Could you please give the cross street of stores you profile? The street address number doesn't help me visualize where it is. Thanks.
