pre-final addition, jump below for after

You may remember the new backyard stairs that we showed off a few months ago? We were mighty proud of our accomplishment but failed to mention that it was only half complete. Take a look at the above picture and see if you notice any goofiness going on... behind the wheelbarrow, perhaps? Now, jump below for the complete look...

ta-da!

If you said, "Hey! There's a gigantic wall and the stairs seem to end above it!," then you would be correct. We finished building our fabulous hillside stairs but hadn't yet figured out the best way to add stairs leading up from the ground to the top of the wall.

It took us a few weeks of staring at the wall, talking to our local hardware store advice team and doing some calculating, but we got it. We ended up building a set of stairs independent from the wall and then attaching them using a system of concrete screws and epoxy.

In the end, we're pretty pleased with these final set of stairs. We have a few more stair projects coming up in the next few weeks and as promised, we will post some how-to steps for building your own steps...stay tuned!

I like the angle between the stairs and the wall.
