apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

The Marianne Bed
From Chair Couture's Green Collection

01_05.06.09_chairCouture.jpgThis gorgeous 1930s country bed was reupholstered in one-of-a- kind "dandelion" fabric. Margaret Elman, the founder of Chair Couture, finds beautiful French antiques and gives them a new life by reupholstering them in fabrics that she has designed herself. We posted about Margaret's work previously on Apartment Therapy, but when we saw the Marianne bed that is part of the Green Collection, we had to share with our readers. More photos after the jump...

Each one of her projects is given a name, since they are all unique. They are reupholstered in fabric that is specifically made for that piece. Her materials for the Green Collection are nature inspired and her goal is to bring the outdoors to your home. Marianne, with its gray-green patina frame covered in "dandelion" fabric has so much presence that we could see her becoming a focal point in any bedroom.

Gorgeous. Would be like lying in a field as a child. I like. A lot.

It's pretty - only would fit my style if it was only one color though and no design.

Interesting. I am not a fan of photographic fabric, but this one is moving into new territory. I'd still like it better if it were more abstracted, though -- maybe using one of those Photoshop filters, or something...
