Vintage Danish furniture is alive and well in Emeryville. Founded in 2002 by Danish-born Lynne Jensen, Klassik by Lynne specializes in vintage Danish (and Swedish) furniture sourced and imported directly from Denmark. On any weekend you might find items from designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Kai Christiansen, Arne Vodder, and Peter Hvidt spread out across their 5,000 square-foot showroom.

Their website lists items currently in stock, along with descriptions and prices. If you spot something you just must have, but you can't make it to the East Bay right away, you can call or email and they'll reserve the item for you.

They also feature lighting, art, and accessories -- some old, some new. Pricing is competitive -- not with IKEA, but then Klassik is for buyers of classic investment pieces, not those looking for disposable furniture. Also, check out the Did You Know section on their website for interesting historical facts on Hans Wegner and Danish furniture.

I love this store! Lynne is really helpful and the place is packed with things I only wish I owned.

this store is always disappointing. whenever i go things are just a bit too seventies or wonky and prices are steep. plus they have a dog in the store that sits on everything.

well... we actually happen to like louie (the dog) and find lynne a charm. as far as the prices and styles, it's a personal thing... we find the prices to be very competitive (and 70s style is defined -- in part -- by danish modernism, so... there you go). one of the best things about the shop is her very trusting policy of "trying before you buy"...
