8-8-shag logo.jpgIf it were possible to play out one-of-a-kind Danish and mid-century modern finds (and we dare you to try), Shag would be the Top 40 station to do it. No matter how many yard sales, antique stores, web auctions and furniture classifieds we browse, there is something so inexhaustibly delicious about being grabbed by the proportions, craftsmanship and patina of these pieces.

But whereas the above-mentioned sources might yield up a particularly choice morsel one time out of every ten, Shag has managed to curate a collection that does it over and over again, relentlessly (judging from the website at least; we have not yet been brave enough to take our charge card anywhere near its Hollywood District location).

Though the website is updated fairly regularly and calls and email inquiries are promptly returned, we suspect the showroom is the place to be, if only to imagine the brick walls, wood floors and apparently high ceilings to be our own to fill with beautiful things. And it's not just furniture; we see nothing wrong with a ceramic Italian bird (pictured).

Go ahead and tell us what you bring back. We'll be waiting for our moment of vicarious bliss.

Hey, thanks for posting a Portland store.

Shag is cool to wander around in. They have loads of Craigslist ads too. You can see a lot of their inventory online.

I actually prefer seeing their images online rather than browsing the store. They must do a really good job setting up their photos.
