Money to Burn Fire Starters

7-18-08 100 fire starters.jpgPicture this: you've been invited to attend a clam bake on the Cape with some heavy-hitters from... well, from somewhere. You're feeling a little insecure because you're the only one present without a yacht parked nearby, so what do you do? Nonchalantly stroll over to the fire-pit and throw a couple of these on to stoke the flames...

Each wad of hundies is coated with slow-burning wax that will continue to burn until the fire gets roaring. If the Vineyard isn't in your plans, use them for a campfire - or any pyre you intend to erect. Happy burning, moneybags!

My grandparents have had these sitting next to their fireplace since I was a kid, but they've never used them. I always thought they were funny!

Something about this makes me cringe... maybe its because im broke, or that there are people sleeping in the streets and we find it comical to burn "money, its a bit of a Metaphor for america... no?

I keep a tin full of charcoal that has been soaked in ethanol, best to collect it the morning after an evening fire, to ensure that it is very dry and "active".

Charcoal has a huge surface area available for storage of fuel, it is like a green form of nanotech energy storage. The latest ideas in hydrogen storage are just more controlled forms of the same idea.

my grandmother had these too! she just kept them around the house because she had some sort of understanding of the law of attraction, ages before the Secret came out. she told me that it was good to keep money lying around, to attract money. and it worked for her. I never knew that these were made for fireplaces, though. she didn't have one.

very spencer's gifts. what's next "best of three from lillian vernon"?

i understand the irony here... using real money to buy and burn fake money, which is, in fact, burning real money as so many free and more attractive ways of starting fires exist.

it is not the kind of irony i revel in.

please...please...fewer cheesy posts for postings sake. i come for the design, the new products and materials, the entry into peoples homes and design minds...not tacky materialism.
