Moss Wallpaper

10.1.09 moss wallpaper 1.jpgOn the riverbank of the Shibuya River in Tokyo's Ebisu neighborhood, lies a renovated wooden house that brought the inside out in a very explicit and innovative way...

10.1.09 moss wallpaper 2.jpgJust outside of the windows of this previously renovated home are a series of veins of moss patterns on the bank of the Shibuya River. In an effort to at once "subtly connect existing spaces with newly-renovated ones," and "'acclimate' the space to the new owner's lifestyle," designer and architect Oki Sato, of nendo, applied dried moss in a pattern that looked like wallpaper. The result is a breathtakingly detailed effect that is quite stunning. While quite so much of this pattern may not be what we're looking for in our home, we could absolutely imagine this, or a similar effect, on one dominant wall.

Hasn't this been posted twice already this week, or are there a bunch of houses out there with moss-ivy-wallpaper?
