My Great Outdoors: Becky's Perfect Portland Patio

2009greatoutdoorsbadge.gifName: BeckyM
Location: Portland
Type of space: Patio

Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: This room-sized patio has just enough space for us to have a potted herb garden, a bench to sit and read on, and a small table and chairs for two. There are two Camellia trees that offer shade and a real feel of the lush outdoors, and our high wooden fence is covered with ivy, for the right amount of privacy. This patio serves as entrance to our town house, and is also connected to our dining room for outdoor meals. It is perfect.

How did you create it?:
We have created our outdoor paradise with a collection of furniture, flower pots (filled with plants), and outdoor accessories. The white bench and tiered plant stand came from Lowe's Home Improvement several years ago, the green table and chair set came this year from Target. The green rug and two green pillows (on the white bench), and small wooden plant stand came from IKEA. Hanging from one Camellia tree are "Whirly Hangy Candle Holders" from CB2, and most of the flower pots, and hanging bird bath are hand-made by me.

Recommended store, site, product or resource?
All of the above, obviously. I think that it takes a smattering of different things to make a look complete. Variety, and a few one of a kind pieces are really what makes any living space feel like home.

Love what you've done, and love that even the bike adds a beautiful shot of color!
