Name: Neil Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: I wanted to make something that reminded my wife and I of our honeymoon in Tahiti. The sun sets in front of our backyard and it is amazing to just sit back and relax, while drinking tropical smoothies. Listening to the water feature in the pond takes us away from the stress of everyday life.
How did you create it?:
First I mapped out the ideas that were in my head...then started slowly shopping for the materials. Cut and Stapled bamboo fencing, installed DIY plastic molded pond kit(took awhile for pond to establish before putting plants and fish in it) Added cobble stones, gravel, and flagstone around pond. Bought bamboo edging to create a little garden adjacent to the pond. Found decking tile to go over the cement block patio. Bought lots of tropical looking plants, even bought a cement tiki god! For drama I added solar tiki torches, lights in pond and solar light in corner garden. Last but not least rolled out the sod!
