Where did you get those wood tiles and how much are they? I would love to get something similar for my deck, but am on a budget.

the wood tiles are from ikea. I think they only have them for the summer (read: think, I could be wrong), but they are so lovely. I saw them used in someone's bathroom on AT as well- heart.

thanks for the lovely comments, I actually got the wood tiles at Home Hardware (www.homehardware.ca) it's a Canadian hardware store, but you can find them almost anywhere. Just be sure to get ones that have rubber underneath, this prevents rotting makes for easy drainage.

The gnome is just a random find. Check out your dollar store, you can make anything cheap look cute when used in a minimal way.

My patio is too long and narrow to do something this creative with. Yours looks great. You have a great view too!

Looks lovely! The wood can also be easily maintained by using a simple polish, which you can buy at almost any sailing shop.

I apply two coats of teak wood oils every year to keep things fresh.

My patio is much narrower and longer than yours, but I framed it with stonework to give it a floating feel.

This is a great use of your space! You have a little green and you didn't hurt the view and the people watching!

Thanks eribina84, the little green that I do have is actually just some cat grass and most importantly...Flax seed! Yes, all I did was throw down the same flax seed I put in my cereal in the morning, it sprouted up in no time and made for some pretty lush coverage. Eventually it should have cute purple flowers.

Brilliant!
I was trying to think of what I could put in my empty window boxes that weren't flowers. I don't have a green thumb nor a lot of money so pebbles, cat grass (I have a cat and she loves to eat grass) and then some home grown flax seed . . . it's all inexpensive and low maintenance. I can't wait to do up my own. Thanks for the inspiration.
