We like Umbra. And we especially like that they give up-and-coming designers an opportunity to showcase their work. One of the "collections" we often pay attention to is the U+ Studio Collection, as it showcases more conceptual designs, all with the Umbra price tag we're familiar with (these items are inexpensive). New Products from Umbra's U+ Studio Collection
Balloona Stool - $350 A playful disposition. Over 500 balloons are tied on a solid wood stool. Designer Natalie Kruch has a penchant for making the ordinary beautiful and intriguing. The BALLOONA stool is Natalie's first object with Umbra, after graduating from the University of Alberta, Canada.
biblioteca bookshelf - $725.00 Design: Matt Carr
Carr found inspiration when he found two vintage coffee tables. Creating a bookrack for his own home. He configured them ingeniously to give these tables a new life as bookshelves. This design is now recreated with a mahongany natural top and black lacquered legs.

The shatter creamer is a knockoff of the 20s Ruba Rombik glass design.

i can only imagine what the third world factory where workers hand tie balloons to stools that umbra pays at most $80 for (think supply chain mark-ups) must look like.
i can then easily imagine how ugly this one will look as it ages, collects dust and detritus, and the rubber fades, hardens, and snaps.
simply sad.
the bookshelf, on the other hand, should be an easy diy for recyclers. genius.
