Bathroom Month Winds Down

March at Home by Emily Payne
We've noticed some regional differences during this year's bathroom month: if you compare reader-submitted bathrooms from San Francisco and New York, you see, very plainly, that the New Yorkers have renovated towards Euro-sleek modernist bathrooms, while here we've trended towards charming, atmospheric vintage upgrades. Does that say anything?

Maybe we just haven't yet heard from the owners of the Bay Area's envelope-pushing modish lavs. Are you out there? This is the last week to send us some pics. We will not only make your bathroom famous, we'll thank you with an AT tee or book, the better to help you catch up with The 2007 Spring Cure.

With the April 6th submission deadline just two weeks away we cannot neglect a mention of the upcoming 2007 Smallest, Coolest Contest, with generous prizes from DWR. Small space dwellers: this is your chance to make it BIG. Start here. Everyone else: be sure to register for our new comments system so that you can vote!

As always, we also welcome tips and questions on all things home (not just bathrooms!). Email us here.

The SF/NYC regional differences aren't just in bathrooms. I'm on the SF Bay Area and read the SF version of Apartment Therapy for local shopping resources, but my taste is ALWAYS found on the more modern NYC blog.

I really dislike the "granny chic" vintage trend here. My hunch is that so many of the houses here are Victorian, that the owners are trying to find ways to work with the architecture. More disturbing to me however is that women's clothing here is veering off in that direction too.

I think it's time some more New Yorkers moved out here. Please save us from ourselves!
