July's all about Green Home

2007_07_02_scraphouse.jpgIs the green thing overexposed these days? Maybe. But to us this just means that there's a greater pool of ideas and resources out there from which to choose what to share here on AT:SF during July, our Green Home month.

Here in the Bay Area and PNW we are particularly blessed: there's a richer dialog about living well and in harmony with green values than ever before. Our goal this month is very simple: to bring you the best of it.

Speaking of which, we often find that the best ideas we blog come from our readers. Last month we saw some very cool outdoor home spaces (check our Liz's, Angie's, rustyletter's, and Sarah's), and this month we'd like to see great recycling solutions. Just what do you do in the meantime with all the paper, cardboard, bottles, cans, plastics, compost, and everyday HAZMAT (like dead batteries) that must depart your home separately these days? If you've rigged up an elegant or innovative home recycling center, get your pics in soon: we have 20 fabulous AT t-shirts waiting for the first 20 submissions.

As always, if you've got something to say or a question to pose on Green Home or anything else home design-related, e-mail us here.

Your appreciation and promotion of green things is fabulous. Keep it coming!

But calling it overexposed? Please don't go there. Environmentalism is not "overexposed", it's not "played out" and totally has not "jumped the shark".

I'm sure the telephone thing felt a little overexposed right before everyone got one and communication was changed forever. This is not a trend, this is a lifestyle change that's going to stick around for a very long time.
