He was one of three winners named last night in SFWeekly's annual "Masterminds" contest, winning a $2500 grant - and some bragging rights, no doubt, too. We hope to see more of Russo's work in the future, as his "Un-tie" chair and sod grass sofa are just the type of "lemons to lemonade" DIYs we can't get enough of around here.
Find more information about Peter Raphael Russo at his website.

Love the tie chair a lot! The sod chair might work in the yard, but I would hate to keep it groomed! So I'd pass. Still, he will be worth watching...

The tie chair looks like some kids craft project from summer camp. Come on, you must be kidding.

Try to make one. You can actually sit in it and the woodwork is superb. I was lucky enough to have tried it out. It might lean more towards the craft side of the arts, but it is far from "kids craft".
