The Fall Cure: Getting Oriented & Week One

An excellent example from our last Cure: Guessica shows off the shelves she and Chris mounted above his desk

10-4-week-one.jpgWelcome to our second Eight Step Cure! For those of you here in SF who have been asking...starting this week we'll be getting started on the second home Cure on AT:NY, following the eight chapters of our book, Apartment Therapy: The Eight Step Home Cure. Our goal? To form an online group together and share in making our own homes beautiful, healthy and organized in time for Thanksgiving. For all info go to the The Book Blog.

This Week's Assignment: Get your hands on a copy of the book and read through page 69. This gives you all the ground work and gets you started with the interview and short quiz on the health of your home.

The Cure posts will go up twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays, allowing for plenty of comment space. We will be pulling comments and pics to the front page post on AT:NY each week and everyone is urged to take pics and post them to this great Flickr pool or simply tag them with "apartmenttherapycure." See our old pics here too.

Can someone tell me where that pendant lamp is from and why I seem to be seeing it in every other home featured on AT?

It's an IKEA Knappa: http://tinyurl.com/pgez4

I'll confess (shamefacedly) that I determined this by working through the most standard AT sources, so IKEA was my third try after CB2 and DWR.

yup, the (slightly askance) lamp is an ikea special. i got it because it was cheap and cool. but mostly cheap ;)

I promise, it's a *lot* cheaper than similar designs at DWR!

I'd love shelves like this over my desk, but how heavy can you go with something that small? Could I put my printer on a shelf like that?

Wende, every time I see the "in Phoenix" after your name I feel a bit blue. However, I'm sure there are shopping gems in Phoenix and it looks like you haave tons of room for guests. ;)

Ebrown, every time I look at my purple plants, I think of you and feel a bit blue at moving away.

There is definitely room for guests (hint, hint), and that room will improve over the next few weeks so that it's more comfortable and less "phew! at least most of the boxes are unpacked!"
