Yuck! Don't touch green design or tech.. it's so been there, done that!
How about something a creative and innovative topic about home decor. What inspires a renter/home owner's design and style... ie art, sculptural pieces, innovative use of space, accessories, solutions et cetera.
That would be a far more interesting and personal experience for readers.

I agree. Green? Yawn. That's at least 30% of every boring issue of Dwell and Architectural Record that my husband receives. ANY of the topics listed by terra sound like more fun.

Agree with terra and ames. How does green apply to everyone? I am a renter and there is only so much green or tech I can do to my loaned space.
Come on!
I like to see what terra said about personal style... what makes a space yours. What is your source of inspiration?
Speaking of space, how do you make best use of your space? I have real storage issues in my ittybitty rental. That would be a swell theme too! Afterall, ole man winter is nearly upon us... how do you store away your seasonal summer stuff!? Seasonal transitions...Ugh.

* Lighting *
please please please!
It's what makes or breaks everything else, especially in a small space.

Lighting sounds delightful! As do all the other ideas from both terra and ames. I would be happy with any of them.
Have a safe and happy Halloween! Boooohoooha

I agree with the other posters here -- "green" and "tech" bore me to tears. Love the idea of inspirations/making a space your own. And the prospect of a whole month of lighting makes me drool!

I love Tara's suggestions, slightly edited.
Read the following and comment on which one(s) appeal to you:
1) creative solutions - stylising and maximising a small space (we yearn to live big in small places!);
2) reversible decor - being creative and imaginative in a rental space (working around restrictions... creating an individualistic temporary and possibly mobile space)
3) space solutions - storage ideas wanted for teenyweeny places;
4) home personalisation - what defines and inspires your style, and what makes your space so unique;
5) showcasing your cozy corners, or collections;
6) accessorising your home with your favourite things- ie books, art, sculptures, pottery, wall pieces, decorative accents etc;
7) strategic and effective use of lighting(especially when natural light is limited);
8) your layout and design in a one room pad/bachelor/studio;
9) sprucing up and 'oomphing' a space on a tight budget (present your very affordable ideas!);
10) showcase your pre-loved/pre-used finds turned into cool treasures- ie junkyard items, flea markets, thrift shops, garage sales etc;
bonus* beautifying and decorating the home for the coming holidays (perhaps a December theme...??!)
Why dont we pick one or combo of the above?
(1-10)
Y'll have fantastic creative concepts!
Keep brainstorming and adding to the comment list... November should be a blast!

Wow, these ideas are so fabulous. The AT team (teehee.. love that!) should break them up and spread them out over the whole year! Or have more than one theme per month.
I want to see more pics of people's homes!!!! There are so many beautiful homes out there that deserve to shown on this site for one reason or another. That is my favorite part of AT. I will miss looking at all the Fall Color Contest entries. I will be experiencing withdrawals the whole month of November so please find a substitute 'cure' for me and all the other devoted fans!

Sorry** Only meant to post the above comment once! See, I really do need a good 'theme' fix to replace October-- I am slowly losing it! (:

Love you Lynn... see her list y'all to put in your vote on a theme idea. Neat selections there.
I am still undecided, but any should do just fine. Although, I do agree with needanotherfix/withdrawalsfromcontest (that was fun to type.. ha) about more home photos (or at least plenty more hometours). I too look forward to those sections of the site.
