We know you're out there. We're going to be frank. We love our idea for our new Home Tech blog (thanks for voting on the name), we love those posting so far, but we really want a woman to add to this mix.
We're looking for one good woman (aka GadgetGirl & Home Techette) who is an AMATEUR but loves both her home...
...and the gadgetry in it. The trick here is that she requires the latter to do its magic without spoiling the looks of the former.
This is a woman who rolls up her own stylish sleeves to rewire the stereo so that the TV's audio channels through it -- and so that you can't see the cords. She's entertained by both slash dot and Elle Decor. We have a hunch that she lives in the Bay Area, but we could be wrong about that.
Thinking this is you? Not sure? You don't have to KNOW everything, you just have to be a curious, intrepid writer...and have an interest in becoming one of the sole women in the mostly male tech blog world.
If this is you, please email:
editor (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com & put TECHETTE in subject line

No offense ... but this feels a little sexist. I'd much rather read the best writer who can bring together home, tech and design.
I don't think it's sexist to encourage more women to apply for the position. I could do without the Gadget Girl/Home Techette appellations, but I applaud AT for seeking out a more diverse array of posters, especially in a field that's dominated by men.
Staring at the snarl of technology beside my desk (computer, Skype headphones, digital camera, cellphone and charger), I agree; I'd like to hear from a Gadget Gal like myself.
Did you hear about the recent survey they did about diamonds...where they found that most women would really rather have a plasma TV than a diamond ring or necklace?
There's a well-documented phenomenon -- not unique to tech fields -- that men with moderate skills feel they're "good enough" to ask for jobs/raises/privileges, but women with excellent skills hang back because we figure we're not good enough. So soliciting a female technophile to come out of the woodwork is not necessarily sexist -- it may be the only way to get a qualified woman to apply.
Would a woman have a different perspective? Who knows. Can't find out if no one asks to see one in action...
Wish I had the time to do a job like that well. Too busy doing the job that lets me buy all my tech gadgets in the first place. Good luck in the search.
Ditto with h. Except it's too busy with a job that doesn't pay well enough for the gadgets...mmm gadets.
I agree that it is great to see women encouraged for the task ... I would just hate to see others excluded from that the same task based on their sex. Women obviously are not at a disadvantage on the Apartment Therapy staff per the "Our Team" section. I just hope they keep an open mind and choice the person with the best voice.
