Location: Oakland, CA
Type of Home: Craftsman bungalow
What inspired you to use color? Not only does color help define your style but it can change your mood. When I walk into my house at the end of the day and I see my blue living room, green office, peacock bedroom and orange dining room, I feel my mood shift. It makes me happy...

Color Tip: Paint your rooms the colors you like, not the colors magazines or catalogs tell you are popular.

Colors Used: Ralph Lauren Cairo Ralph Lauren Egyptian Nile Behr Tropical Skies Behr Bold Edwardian Dutch Boy Summer Lake

Oh, this is gorgeous! Your bedroom is essentially the color theme I want do with my tiny studio (which is also a craftsman, go figure). It's nice to that the colors DO work together as well in real life as they do in my mind. :)

not sure what a craftsman bungalow is but you have so much light with all those beautiful windows.
beautiful colors, even down to the colorful cook books.
nicely done--woodwork in DR is so lovely too.

Where did you get the chairs in your dining room? I've been searching for these forever! Lovely house!

This house is really nice. I love how the colors work WITH the house instead of just being slapped onto the walls in spite of the house.

This looks like a comfortable, lived-in, and well-loved home!

What a beautiful house/home. Impressive that you have respected the style of the house yet keep it looking modern and very elegant.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone!

sparkle - that color is Behr's Tropical Skies. We color-matched to use Ralph Lauren paint since we don't actually like the coverage BEHR provides.

sassydo - a craftsman bungalow is a style of house that was built during the American arts & crafts movement. Here are a couple of good Flickr pools that show more of the style: http://www.flickr.com/groups/craftsman/, http://www.flickr.com/groups/hewn/, http://www.flickr.com/groups/bungalowusa/.

aande4414 - the table & chairs are from Cost Plus World Market. They are always on sale, so you should definitely keep an eye out. They're solid wood and really well made.

What a great house...nice sense of style and color! It doesn't appear "staged", instead really comfortable. On the flip side, I think it is a stretch to say that anything at Cost Plus is "really well made".

bgirl_nw - normally i'm not a fan of cost plus furniture b/c it is cheap, but this table & chair set are STURDY. And yeah, I do think they're well-made. But not everything at CP is. :-)

ashnwest - the couch was a special order from Macy's a few years back. It's a Lee couch with sunbrella fabric which works out fabulously with pets (and I would imagine children).

I agree that the colors are bright and cheerful, but they don't seem to come from the same color palette. It makes the color scheme somewhat discordant.
